Samsung 22” T22A350 settings locked?
I’m using the Samsung 22” T22A350 Series 3 LED monitor with Windows 7. This monitor is about 3 years old.
When I open the menu it read analog locked and auto adjusts locked. The only part I can adjust is contrast…no brightness. I would think it would read digital like my old ViewSonic. Also, I can’t adjust the color or Magic Bright.
I’ve downloaded the manual for this model and it shows a remote which I don’t recall receiving with this monitor. Also, my Samsung TV remote won’t work with this monitor.
I do play COD MW3 and the graphics are great and seem to be hi-def.…no problems with that as the graphics have excellent detail. My graphics card is a NVIDIA GeForce GTX 550 Ti. The monitor is set at true color (32bit). I’m running an Intel Core i7 CPU 870 @ 2.93GHz.
I love my Samsung DED TV’s but can’t say much for this monitor. Even the tilt on this Samsung monitor is very limited.
Is there any software for this monitor I can download to change the settings? Also, is there a graphics card around $100-$150 that would make a substantial difference with IE or Mozilla is that just a monitor quality issue?
Lastly, has there been much improvement in monitors in the last few years?
Thanks,
Mike

The Samsung T22A350 is a 21.5" LED Backlit LCD Monitor with a built-in Digital TV Tuner ... which is why it comes with a remote.
Although it comes with an Analog RGB (VGA) port, two Digital (HDMI) ports as well as Composite and Component ports, it only ships with a VGA (analog) cable. In order to use the Digital capabilities, you'll need to attach it to your computer with a HDMI cable.
Newegg no longer sells it but you can still see all of the details, reviews and several photos here:

If you connect it via HDMI you'll need a mini cable to do that. My Geforce GTX 550 Ti is the same.

Even a minor upgrade to something like a GTX 560 Ti is going to run more than $150.00.

Keep in mind that they "don't recommend upgrading your graphics card unless the replacement card is at least three tiers higher. Otherwise, the upgrade is somewhat parallel and you may not notice a worthwhile difference in performance."

Thanks for the feedback! I did check in back today and noticed it wasn't connected via HDMI...I'll make that change.
I did research both Dell and ViewSonic IPS 23-24" monitors which are around $300. The Dell is 200 cd/m and the VS is 250 cd/m and the Dell has 1920X1200 resolution and 8ms vs. 6ms for the VS.
The text on Mozilla isn't as bright as IE. The text in Word isn't that great as well.
I also do a lot of PhotoShop work so maybe a new IPS monitor may make things easier on my eyes.
I'll try the connections 1st and go from there.
Thanks,
Mike

I ordered that mini cable not looking at my video card connections. It has a regualr HDMI slot on the back as does the back of my Samsung. Thae mini cable has one mini HDMI.
When connecting the monitor do I need both VGI and HDMI connections to my graphics card for hi-def or can it be just HDMI from my graphics card to my Samsung?
I also called my local PC shop and they know me. I said I was connected VGI from my monitor to my graphics card and I keep seeing analog dispalyed at boot up. The tech claims the VGI connections are fine and I'm getting hi-def video. So now I'm somewhat confused and I have downloaded the Samsung monitor manual. I can't access some the Samsung picture setting via my current VGI connection so maybe he's confused.
My next step is to get a HDMI to HDMI cable and go from there. I'll visit the PC shop Friday with the manual and see what the say. I'm curious how difference I would see in a monitor with IPS technology and higher response times.
At least I have a monitor that works.

HDMI is digital, VGA is analog.
