It's true about the sound, but they're not mainstream. Vinyl warps, gets scratches, and breaks, and the size is not portable. He's offering used records to a specialized audience. I still see records offered for sale at garage sales too. Unfortunately, the majority of people don't have the equipment to play them without the clicks and pops.

Used records are your only choice. If you enjoy your collection, then it's very special. When anything gets outdated, there's always a specialized group of consumers who appreciate the old whatever, and collect them.

A store out here goofed a few years ago and ordered 50,000 records instead of cds.
They sold out in 3 days. Darn if they are not still ordering records. A point to ponder for sure.

My son has my Thorens turntable with an SME arm and Ortofon cartridge. He still buys some new alternative music on vinyl. They are readily available, including new releases. I can't be bothered any more. All my music including vinyl is stored digitally on my NAS so I can listen to any song or shuffle play any time without having to get up evry few minutes.

Maybe you'll find another record lover there. I found it interesting, but I don't have any. My passion is for computers, and I prefer my music on more convenient, and cheaper, media. I'm more interested in the content than the technology.

Are you professionally involved with music?

BTW--some of the companies on your list had only CD's in their catalog.

I'm not professionally involved with music. I have been an audiophile for a long time, and currently have 7.2 (2 sub woofers) surround sound system. My kids are musicians (not professional) and also love music. I have a love for computers and technology in general.

Either way, I gave up music when lost 10dB more of hearing. Yes I now wear a matching set of hearing aids. Left 70dB of loss and 60 dB in the right.

Fink has it right! Protect yourself. Some of us are paying now for earlier stupidity.

I am in my 50's and still have very good hearing. I have always worn ear plugs to concerts, bars etc., always wear hearing protection when using lawn mowers, power tools etc. A lot of people have laughed at me over the years for doing so, but I can still hear well. I spent a lot of time advising my kids to listen to headphones etc. at low levels to protect their hearing, and they also play their instruments at low volumes, and wear ear plugs when playing at higher volumes. Being an audiophile lead me to protect my hearing from the get go so I could enjoy what I like.
