Resolved [RESOLVED] Acronis True Image 2011 - unable to restore on anothe drive ?

When win 7 is installed on a drive it creates a system reserved space of 100 mb which is the first partition on the drive. This partition does not show when win 7 is booted. Then it installs on the c: drive. I like to install the programs on d: drive. When I do a full backup, I can restore it later on the same drive. But, when I try to restore on another drive, it says bootmanager is missing ?
When I try to restore, I get to see the 100 mb partition, c: drive, d: drive and finally mbr. I try to restore c:,d: drives on another hdd which I have already partitioned. I also restore the mbr to the 2nd drive. Still the boot manager is missing. Then I make another partition before c: drive and restore that 100 mb on this parition. Still the same issue ?

What am I doing wrong when trying to restore the image to another drive ?

another hdd which I have already partitioned.
I think that's the problem. You should just blank out the target drive.

Also, I don't have a version of 2011 in front of me but with 2010 you need to manually choose to restore the MBR along with the complete disk image.

If you really want to be rid of the 100MB System Partition, here's how:

you are right ! That was the problem. The hdd has to be blanked and setup as a new drive. Then only it is going to work. Now, it does not matter what size the drives are. Later, one can do partition allocation and formatting thru disk management tool.

    thanks.
