The board of HP is expected to decide by the end of this year whether to split off its PC arm, which started selling the TouchPad in July, into a separate company, a move it considers the "best for shareholders," Reuters reported.

And ACER says they are not interested in HP.

Don't think HP will disappear any time soon.

Forbes just ran a story that HP is going to continuing with the Touchpad -- dubious. If HP has a fire sale on desktops I want to be first in line.

I don't think we will see a similar firesale on Windows-based desktops and laptops....but perhaps some nice smaller sales for Christmas time. HP is still making a profit on those devices, but the touchpads were dead in the water with WebOS. They had to dump them...

This is good news .. I always bought HP laptops but hate its printers... These new printers detect anything as duplicate but original cartridges. I would love to see HP shed its printer business.... Now I buy only brother printers...paying 20 dollars for 20 cent ink is too much
