Resolved [RESOLVED] Formatting a new hard drive

I recently built a new PC and installed Windows XP Pro on a 80gb hard drive. I have a 500gb hard drive that I would like to use as storage, games, pictures and other stuff with 5 partitions. I installed the new HDD but it doesn't show in my computer. For the life of me I forgot how to format and partition it. Any help would be great.

Hmm I made 4 partitions and formatted them with no problem BUT I have 75gb of unallocated space that It won't let me do anything with.

If those are Primary partitions, I believe 4 is the maximum you can create.

    Correct.

How to use Disk Management to configure basic disks in Windows XP

You can create up to four primary partitions, or three primary partitions and one extended partition, that contain logical drives.
