X in Corner if Images on Web Sites...No Image Shows

I'm running Vista Home Premium with IE6 and XP on my laptop with IE7. My security settings are at defualt. Also, I have ESET on my personal PC and they have Symantic (Norton) on my laptop.

When I go to many sites instead of seeing an image, I just get a small X at the top left hand corner. I'm fairly certain this is due to one of my security settings.

Any suggestions on what setting/settings to change to enable or prompt in security?

Also, is IE7 any better then IE6? I rolled back to IE6 on my PC when it came out. I didn't care for the format, but maybe it's faster.

    Thanks,
    Mike

    Thanks SpywareDr!

This is probably a dumb question, but is IE7 & IE8 better than IE6? IE6 keeps closing down and restarting on my PC now that I think about it.

I'm still getting those blank images on IE7 with the X at the top left on my laptop. I can't go to IE8 on my work laptop as it's not mine. Might there be a security setting blocking the image or is that common security now.

I'll step up to IE7 or IE8 on my home PC.

    Thanks!

IMHO, IE8 is better than any previous versions.

Can you see the images in a different brower?

What is the URL to one of the sites where you can't see the images?

Thanks for the tip on IE8! I'll check the URL's and make a list. I'm off to work.

    Thanks again!

mike2rc--One small X and no images at all? On both computers?
Right click on the X then Properties. What do you see in the Address line? Same on all sites? What do you see if you go to that URL?
    Is this a RedX?
Right click on the X and Show Pictures.
IE Tools|Internet Options|Advanced tab. Is "Show Pictures" checked in Multimedia section?

I got a work email on my work laptop that showed the pictures in Outlook in the email, did a save as and filed it my docs and right clicked on the red x and nothing happened I assume becuase my docs is not on the internet. Show pictures is checked on my work laptop.

So far on my PC with IE7 I've haven't run accross that problem yet and show pictures is checked.

    What is the answer line?

    Thanks!
    Mike
