About the only thing you can do in that case is to try to delete your brother....I would....

You can try again to install Linux from scratch and see if it will be successful the second time around. If this is a laptop, there might be a recovery partition that is accessible through the BIOS. Otherwise, you will need the original XP installation disk.

is windows 2000 or 98 for free. Because i have 256 mb of ram, and that's why linux wont install. It's not the minimum, but i could use either 2000 or 98, i only need the floppy drive, to use. This is my old pc, i just need the floppy drive. the cables wont work with my new pc, so that's why i need this one.

italianbull--Do you have any functions of XP? Perhaps Safe Mode? If so try a System Restore to a time before the install of Linux was attempted.
Run a Search of files/folders on the PC. Do you find a folder named I386 containing about 500-600MB of files? Those are your Windows XP files.

You could try phoning the company from whom you bought the PC and ask them to sell you an XP installation CD. They should not charge more than about $20.

Or try a different version (Distro) of Linux ,I haven't used a Linux OS for awhile but there definitely is one out there that'll install with only 256MB Ram.
