[RESOLVED] Video Card Install

I hope I am posting this to the correct forum. FYI: I have Windows XP SP3 if that matters.
I just purchased a LG 2240T 22" wide screen monitor and my video resolution does not support the monitor. I need 1920 x 1080 according to LG. My video is currently on the Motherboard which is NVIDIA GEForce 6100. I need an AGP Video card.
I have ordered a EVGA GeForceFX5200 W/128MB. I do not do and gaming, just the usual internet and view and post process photos from my DSLR.

When I install this card and fire up the PC will I need to do anything besides install the driver which will be on the enclosed CD? Will my pc recognize that I have a new video card? Will I have to go into the BIOS in reference to the previous video setup? I am not bad with pc's but this will be new to me since I have never done this. Why I am doing this is I saw that icons, photos etc are a bit squished if you know what I mean.
I would appreciate all the detailed help I can get.

I suspect all you needed to do was to update the driver for the existing card, actually. But to answer your question, once the driver is installed for the new card, it should show you the correct resolution for your monitor.

Thanks for the reply and moving this to the Windows XP forum, I realized after wards I had in it the wrong one.

I did update the drivers for the existing card but that did not change anything and that is why I am getting the new card. I am glad to hear I should not have to do anything else.
Another question, once I install the video card and I boot up my machine
(pre- installing the driver) will there be any issues? Will Windows already recognize there is a new video card?
I also just looked and with my current card if I take it up to 2048 x 1556 and hit apply a message comes up and says (d-link) it is out of range and I have to hit the escape key and it goes back to 1024 x 768.

Since you have that option, the lower setting should work, 1920 x 1080. Did you also try that instead of going to highest setting?

Photolady, I do not have the option to get to 1920 x 1080. When I slide the bar to the right it only goes to the highest setting which will not work.

What actual sizes do you see when you slide the bar between the lowest setting and the highest? You should see more than two settings.

And just so you know, that 5200 runs on the hot side which will eventually burn out, plus it is older than the onboard chip you have. I suggest you look for something ilike this card:

I see 1280 x 1024
1600 x 1200
1400 x 1050
2048 x 1536

As far as the card goes it will be here on Monday since I ordered it on line.

I received the video card today and installed it however I have nothing on the screen. It is just black. The machine is booting up but cannot see anything. Any idea what the issue can be?

Having issue with getting to CMOS/BIOS. After tapping f8 key I see the following choices:

Safe Mode
Safe Mode with Networking
Safe Mode with command prompt

Enable Boot Logging
Enable VGA Mode

Last Known Configuration
Directory Services for mode
Debugging Mode
Disable auto restart on system failure

Start Windows Normally
Reboot
Return to OS Choices Menu

I thought the f8 key would take me to the Bios Menu? Can you please advise.

Tap the Delete key. If that doesn't work, we will need the make and model or the motherboard info to find what key you need to press.

The delete key got me there but I do not see where I can make a change for the video. Here is what I see and I went into each one but did not see what I need: Below I will add the link for the mother board which is a CRU51-M9
