DirectX 8.1b Problem
As per this thread I installed DirectX 8.1b.
I noticed the other day that the theme music for Worms Armageddon is like somone is turning the volume up and down.
After ghosting my Win98SE partition, I formatted and reinstalled Win98, Promise Ultra 100 drivers, Nvidia Geforce2 MX drivers 41.?? (the latest) and SBLive Value Drivers.
Installed WA and tested and all was ok.
Installed DirectX 8.1b and the problem arose again.
Found that if I drop the hardware accelleration for the sound card by 2 notches the problem is corrected.
So is it a problem with WA, SBLive or DirectX.
All other games seem to be ok on the high setting and even the rest of WA is ok, just the music at the beginning screen.
Athlon 950Mhz, Nvidia Geforce2 Mx, SBLive Value, 384Mb ram

Just a thought...DirectX 9 is out. Give that a shot and see what happens.

Well it gets weirder.
I played around last night and found that if I remove my sound card under device manager and then click refresh so that it gets redetected, the opening music works fine without having to drop the acceleration level down at all.
If I exit the game and go back in it still works.
As soon as I reboot, it doesn't work.
Remove and refresh soundcard under device manager and it's fine again.
Weird !!

More testing reveals that the music works fine with DirectX 8.0 as soon as I upgrade to 8.1 I have to drop the hard hardware acceleration or remove / refresh under device manager.

Even more testing has revealed the following:
If I open the DirectX Control Panel Dx8.cpl (found on a site referred to somewhere else on VDr) and open the DirectSound tab and then close the DirectX control panel - the title music works fine.
Something must get initialised by looking at that tab ?
I also went to the forum at www.team17.com and it seems that all the worms games have problems with XP, DirectX 9.0 etc so maybe I shouldn't be surprised with my weird problem.
I think that's about enough investigation on this one.
