    How To ???Or Can U

    Hi thought id come over here and ask a couple of questions was in 95 forum and working with murf and we found out this used puter i bought will just not accept win95 so i want to put win 3.1 on it .. Problem is i have no win 3.1 setup disks but i do have 3 older Ibm puters with 3.1 on them is there a way to get win3.1 off off these and installed onto this AST 486 puter we are having troubles with, Thought id ask this before i have to go shopping on E-Bay for 3.1 disks if i can even find them???? thanks for your time and help Allan

    Best bet would be with an original set of diskettes. Go to http://www.ebay.com , type in workgroups and press [Enter]. (Just tried it and got 17 hits).

    In the other thread, I did not see what version of Windows 95 you are installing. If it is Windows 95b, you might try creating an
    Emergency Windows 95. This can be run from the hard drive using Doublespace.

    Since this is done without installation, you might find out if it will work on the AST. If it does, there is obviously some file being installed that is conflicting with the system. While this is not much use other than testing the computer, it might give you an idea.

    Sounds like a problem I once had with a "AST Advantage! Adventure 486DX2-66mt". The problem was flaky RAM. Replaced it and Windows 95B (OSR2) installed (from the hard drive) with nary a hitch.
