OK, as promised.....some pics of the on-going case mods. Sorry for the poor quality of some of them.
Didn't scan as well as I hoped. For the benefit of any readers, here's the system:
InWin A500 Case
Pentium III 933 overclocked to 1.03 GB with Golden Orb cooler
320 mb PC-133 RAM
2x 20 GB Hard Drives
Asus GeForce 2 GTS Deluxe video card
Kenwood 72x CD-ROM
HP 8100 series CD Writer
Digital Doctor Temp and Fan Module
US Robotics 56K Voice/Fax modem
SoundBlaster Live! sound card
Case Mods:
1. Front Panel. I opened up the air intake holes a bit more with a ¼” drill bit and carved out the back of where the case badge goes to let the light shine through. Then I added:
2. Inside Blue Neon Lights and Blue LEDs to the front inside panel. Also added a small fan to blow onto the hard drives. The lights give this effect......
3. Glow. Weird, eh? Note the glow from the "Case Badge--(photo from vendor's site).
4. Added Blowholes on Side and Top. Used a "nibbler" available from Radio Shack to cut the holes. Side fans blow directly on video card and CPU. Top fan exhausts warm air rising to the top.
5. Inside Side Panel. Leaving the side vents open probably helps a regular system, but with this many fans, it helps to close it up; just used 3M 6969 tape (doesn’t have to look pretty on the inside)---saw a 5 degree drop in temp when I did this.
6. Inside the Maze Looks messy, but a lot of good air flow in there; thanks to those rounded IDE/floppy cables and the power wire looming. One temp probe is right next to the chip, the other dangling in the middle of the case.
7. Inside Back. Split wire loom keeps the CD cables in check.
8. Inside Front. Note the Fan Bus---eliminates a lot of plugs for all those fans. Cut out the front and installed a 120 Panaflo intake fan.
9. Asus GeForce 2 GTS Deluxe vid card. Added a Blue Orb and glued Some RAM sinks onto it (with Artic Silver Thermal Glue, not paste). Can overclock it a little more that way and still have a stable video. Last 3DMark2000 benchmark: 7233
10. Wanna know what I look like? Pic of Bistro.
11. Oh...OK....here I am (with explanatory notes).....
Thus endeth this issue of “National Modigraphic”…..

Neener neener neener---mines tidier inside than youuuuurs.
Like the automod... I do have an imaging program, bistro. I can zoom in on the stadium pic...
Thank you, bistro. Now if we just had sound so I can hear how loud those fans are.
It looks real good.

Tidiness isn't one of my longsuits....thinking about hiring a housekeeping service to go into that system twice a week....
Just got "too much" stuff
The sound level is real low, believe it or not. When I replace those side fans with Panaflos, should even be better.
Perhaps a window showing with all the Kama Sutra positions etched on it; to match all the convolutions inside the case? Hmmmmm....
Have taken the probe and tested out different sections of the case (closing it up each time--no open side panel). Highest temp was 77.8 up near the top. CPU reaches around 92 when running "hot".

Nicely done.
But, I have a question?
I could not find you pup-tent or sleeping bag. Therefore it does not qualify for a camper.
I noticed the same temp drop when I covered the side slots also. 5 degrees is nothing to sneeze at. And that dropped the cpu temp 2 C.

greengoose,
I will post a pic have them developing at Walgreens even as I type. But, TA has the scanner---she's in San Antonio this week (Spring break) so I'll have to wait 'till she gets back (end of the week) to scan and post them.
Lots of them OCing and modding sites, huh Train ? Becoming a pretty popular pass time.

2 Panaflo 80mm fans arrived today....replaced the two side panel fans with them. Quieter and the system temp is about 4 degrees cooler than with the others. CPU appears to be running average 2 to 3 degrees cooler now also.
neighbor's case STILL hasn't arrived...does anybody know if UPS converted over to stagecoach?

Train, QoH, and Mosaic - Email.
Bistro, Looks like you kept the integrity of the air flow, so you have positive air pressure all the time which resulted in cooler temps.
Posted tips and tweaks easy read on 98.
