    The Release Candidate is here

It can be downloaded right now from Connect, Technet or MSDN. For everyone else you'll have to wait until next week.
    Nick.

Wish I had joined Technet when I had the chance, Nick, so I wouldn't be in that category "Everyone else will have to wait."

About an hour and a half to go on the download, but I won't have a chance to burn the DVD and get it installed on the beta test machine until tomorrow evening.

You're doing well with your servers over there then Platypus, my download is currently trickling down from the European servers at the dizzying rate of 32kB/s (I usually get around 1300)

Yes, it ran fairly consistently as fast as my 1.5Mbps ADSL could pipe it through. Burned to DVD this morning, but I've got a pretty full day mapped out today, so won't be able to do the install until this evening.

I've decided this time, I'm going to try the 64 bit version. Can I do that though I evaluated the 32bit last time?

Yes indeed, you can install whatever you want (or even both)

The servers seem to have been fixed today - it took me around 8 hours to get the first 40% and 30mins to get the rest

I've installed x64 and all is working fine, with no bugs or glitches to report so far. The Creative X-Fi drivers asked me to "upgrade" to WinXP or Vista, but installed fine in Vista Compatibility Mode. Apoart from that it's been completely uneventful.

If you thought the first beta was nice, RC is nicer still. This is an OS I am really going to like

I agree the Beta was a breeze to install and use. Much easier than even xp when I started using it, and Vista also. I found a few glitches in the Beta but since it is a beta, I guess that's why. But the overall picture of this new OS was great. I can't wait for the real version to get here. I'm definitely buying it.

I never crashed Windows 7 but some older software wouldn't even run, or install, but I had to try them just to see how compatible it was with my win98 software.

From what I gathered reading the site, it says May 5th PST. So depends on your time zone. Mine, I can't start downloading until 3am because it would then be 12am PST May 5th or there abouts.
