[RESOLVED] cannot access website or get e-mail from just one domain.
This is for a customer machine. they claimed that after installing outlook 2007 on a windows vista business 64 machine they cannot access their website from just this one computer the other computers in the office can get there just fine. so it is only on this one machine. the website is www.sanduskycounty.org and the mail is using the mail servers mail.sanduskycounty.org.
IE7, firefox 3.01. cannot access the site. outlook cannot get mail, and windows mail cannot either. I checked to see if the domain is blocked and it appears to be fine. so what could be the issue? since they are closed on the weekend I have to "logmein" to try things.

jdlenke--Does that PC have a HOSTS file? If so, is sanduskycounty.org in there? I understand the PC can access all other sites.

What happens when they ping the two URLs?ping www.sanduskycounty.org
ping mail.sanduskycounty.org (Both should return a "Reply from 84.40.23.60 ...").
If that appears to work ok, have they searched the Registry for "sanduskycounty.org"? If found, which key is it in?

pings didn't work with 100% loss. a search of the registry noted a few entries in reference to that domain in a folder for macromedia contribute. They can reinstall it but I removed macromedia contribute and the problem persists. is there maybe a different hosts file that I may be missing?

C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc\hosts
No extension on host.
Open it in Notepad and it should look about like this.
# Copyright (c) 1993-1999 Microsoft Corp.
#
# This is a sample HOSTS file used by Microsoft TCP/IP for Windows.
#
# This file contains the mappings of IP addresses to host names. Each
# entry should be kept on an individual line. The IP address should
# be placed in the first column followed by the corresponding host name.
# The IP address and the host name should be separated by at least one
# space.
#
# Additionally, comments (such as these) may be inserted on individual
# lines or following the machine name denoted by a '#' symbol.
#
# For example:
#
# 102.54.94.97 rhino.acme.com # source server
# 38.25.63.10 x.acme.com # x client host
127.0.0.1 localhost
