Best Picture Viewer?
Hey guys, I have seen many picture viewers, but I'm trying to find one that you guys would recommend.
So far I have tried ACDSee, but this program is very slow when you try to view pictures. It takes like 5-10 seconds to open a picture just to view it, I hate it.
Any suggestions? I just want something that lets you view pictures and will zoom very quickly without taking 30 seconds to "filter" the picture so it looks nice for zoom quality.
Thanks.

I've tried a few, but have always returned to Windows Picture and Fax Viewer - very fast and easy to use.

I really like IRFanView. Someone here recommended it a while ago and I've used it ever since.

Well I have used Irfan as well. I forgot to mention that. I think it could use a few improvements and I was hoping that someone knew a better program.

Have you used the latest version of Irfanview? This comes with a set of plugins also, and now you can crop your photos too, along with other enhancements. Another pretty good viewer is Google's Picasa found in the link below.

Of the free programs Irfanview is probably the best all around. But Picasa and Windows Picture and Fax Viewer do a few things that Irfanview does not do. (And Irfanview does many things they do not do.) So use them all!!
Here is short tutorial on some of the interesting things WPAFV does that are not that well known.

After trying a few freebie photo viewer / editor apps, my favorites (in order):
Viewer (w/minor editing): FastStone
Viewer (w/minimal editing): IrfanView
Veiwer (w/minor editing): XNView
Editor: PhotoFiltre
But the truth be told, they all do a great job. Not to mention they are all FREE!

I think it is a matter of personal pref. I have tried all the software mentioned on this page yet. After everything, I always come back to the Windows Picture and Fax viewer for default file associations -- it's the fastest, lowest denominator viewer that works well. For the more advanced functionality of managing pictures and all that, I doubt anything beats Picasa yet. It's free, from the Google team, allows sharing in-built, has some pretty easy to use editing features, and looks very snazzy: http://picasa.google.com
