Driver Issues
I use Windows XP home edition. A few days ago I was having some sound issues with a game that I play, so I thought re-installing my sound drivers would fix the problem. It didn't, and it also killed all my sound, for ALL my programs.
Motherboard Name: Intel Blue Mountain 2 D845PEBT2
Windows Audio Multimedia Devices:
Device Identifier Description
midi-out.0 0001 000A SoundMAX Wavetable Synth
midi-out.1 0001 0066 Microsoft GS Wavetable SW Synth
mixer.0 0001 0068 SoundMAX Digital Audio
wave-in.0 0001 0065 SoundMAX Digital Audio
Wave-out.0 0001 0064 SoundMAX Digital Audio
PCI/PnP AUdio Devices
Intel 82801DB(M) ICH4(-M) -AC'97 Audio Controller [B-0]
On the intel site, it gives me the right drivers to download/install. However, when I uninstall the drivers that aren't working, and install the recommended ones, it says that I need to be using Windows 2000 or Windows 98 SE.
I dont get it, I've been running windows XP on this computer for over 2 years now, without a problem.
All the speakers are plugged in properly, and they work fine.

Hello and welcome to virtualdr.
Have you tried rolling back the drivers to the ones that you originally had installed?
If that doesn't work try uninstalling the device/soundcard in control panel/system/hardware/device mgr/ and rebooting to reinstall it and first allow windows to pick it's own driver or do what you did when you first installed the card.

I opted to do a full system restore to an earlier point. I have sound for all my programs again, but the game that I was having problems with is still a problem.
But whatever, I'm happy.
