    DVI to Component Adapter question...

So, I know the adapters exist ... and normal usage is to hook it up to the PC DVI and run the component cables to your TV. As in a media center type setup...

But I have a different usage and looking to see if will work ... a friend has a portable DVD player, with the little screen for viewing. Also has component outputs that could go to your TV inputs if you have them.... But I want to go straight to an LCD monitor.
Thus, the adapter would be placed on the LCD's DVI input, allowing it to accept the composite input from the portable DVD player. Seems like it should work but hate spending money without knowing! ;-)

Thoughts and opinions on this would be appreciated... thx.

I don't know. You'd *think* it would work... but maybe if you take the portable player into a shop like radioshack or similar they'd let you try it out with one of their cables on one of their monitors before you buy it.
