    repartion hard drive?

    hello all,

i have a 40gb hdd with 2 partitions 15 and 25 gb (C, andD) the problem is that the O.S. (XP) is on the C partition which is so out of room that there is only 5 percent free space (wont defrag properly) on the 15 gb partition C,
there is about 700MB of free space. both partitions are NTFS, theres plenty of room on the D partition, 10gb. granted a new drive would be nice however is there a way to just remove the partition or move it for more room now?
    thanks john

    Hi,

Partition Magic or Acronis Disk Director will both do what you wish.

Tips for usiing PM, I've used it for several years without nay problems.
I expect equally applicable to Disk Director

1 Make the Rescue Disks when prompted duriing installation
2 Backup everything before use preferably twice and verify the backup.
3 Only make the changes one by one, don't set up re-sizing, create new partitions, and format or other multiple operations all at once.
4 Don't use the program in poor weather storms etc. when there is an increased risk of a power outage.
    5 RTFM

There are freeware & shareware partition management programs, I have no experience of these however.
