    Sounds like you may be well on the way to fixing this ... but an added note. Be sure you have the firmware updated for your hardware involved.

    There's only one version of it out and it is current so I am thinking the D-Link modem goes on line today to test speed between the two.
    If that is successful, this will be one interesting network.
    D-Link Modem to Linksys Router to Netgear Switch. Who says I don't spread the wealth around.

    Just a little update; I have used combination of routers, modems, and machines without and with the routers and nothing gets me any higher speed than about 1.4 mbps when the modems read speeds from 3.2mbps to 4.6 mbps.
    I am totally out of ideas and am beginning to believe this is a DSL line quality issue.
    The only left to try is at another location where I know they also have 4.0mbps downstream service.

    Interesting thread, 2 weeks ago I was recieving 589kbps..... now it's 3.7mbps, I'm not complaining, but why?

    I read where some ISP in England was going after a 20 mbps speed. I'd kill just to get my 4 out of Telecom Italia.

    Yep, Bulldog, owned by Cable and Wireless are going to be offering 20mbps so that users can pay to download movies, and my ISP NTL is following suit with 10mb firstly next year, and then to infinity and beyond.

    For the way I use my connection, I'd rather have symetrical speeds even if it were no more than 2Mbps.
