[RESOLVED] New hard drive, no wires! :(
hi people,
i have just got a new 200GB SATA Seagate HD and the stupid thing doesn’t come with any wires, or anything for that matter. i have mounted it in my computer and connected power but i realised i don't have the wire that connects the HD to the mobo. so what wire is it? And where can i buy one?

Anything here: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/acatalog/sata_cables.html (from the third one down) Depending on personal preference you could go for a EL cable or a standard silver cable, also make sure you get one that is the right length.

well let me just double check, this is the HD i bought;
http://www.ebuyer.com/customer/produ...duct_uid=74108
so can i buy the 6th one down on the overclockers site?
and how cheap is it of them selling a 70quid HD and not providing a 50p cable! It’s like buying a new car and being told the wheels are extra!

if there is one thing in life i REALY hate, it's paying more for postage than the product i am buying! now that’s just messed up. but i suppose i will have to make the sacrifice this one time.
cheers for the help. i also have another HD related enquiry but i will put it in another thread.

No problemo.
The postage thing is always crap, but you could try Ebay, if you've not bought it yet.

Nevermind, at least you can use the drive when the cable arrives, and that drive was OEM so you wouldn't have got anything with it, onto the new hard drive thread then.

You could always try PC World, the cable will be more expensive, but it'll save the postage and you won't have to wait.
BTW, most drives are bare OEM models that come without cables, etc. If you really want the cables then you need to make sure that you are buying the retail boxed version, which will usually cost more.

I'm suprised your Asus didn't come with any SATA cables...they ususally throw a few in just for good measure....

well it's a custom built PC i got from a website so i wouldn't know if it did come with extra cables. And i always wondered what OEM stood for! now i know for future.
