major overclocking

I am thinking about buy a 4000+ and I want to overclock it as much as possible

gonna be using one of these

and some artic silver 5

what ram should I get to be able to overclock these as much as possible?

12x200 = 2400mhz, so I was thinking maybe 11x250 = 2750 or so...
whatever will get me the max without paying too much for the ram

I would be looking at Corsair XMS , Kingston HyperX, OCZ, Mushkin.

This might be an option depending on how far you want to push the FSB. I think the multiplyers are locked on all but the FX line. So you will have to depend on fsb to achieve any real ocing.

I believe that the multipliers are locked if you want to increase them, but I think I wouldn't have a problem going to 11 from 12...

I have already been looking a Corsair XMS, crucial Ballistix, how is G. Skill?
I am thinking that I am gonna be getting DDR500, but has anyone here overclocked this much before? I would like to know if it is resonable to get ip to 11x250...
12x250 would be so awesome, but I think that would be a bit high

I would stay away from Geil if I were you. I had forgotten about Crucial, another very good brand of ram. I have not read much about the oc potential for the newer core's, but I have seen some very good results on the 3000, 3200, 3400, 3500's going behond 250 fsb with the multipliers lowered. I think oc's like you are looking at will require some over volting of the ram and cpu. I have had my 939 3500 up to 2.6 GHz (220x12) its locked at 12 with the core voltage at 1.47 volts. I left the ram voltage alone. I use XMS 3200 in dual channel. It would run and run well but once in a while it would reboot, I am sure it was because I left the ram voltages and timings at the stock settings.

I thought the 3500+ has its multiplier locked at 11...
shouldn't it be 220x11=2.4 (this is how my 3400+ is set), and you shouldn't have to fight at all to get it overclock to 220mhz.., I run that right now with no voltage overclocking or anything and with cosair value 3200 ram
240x11=2.6 would make more sense..

anyways, would really like someone who has gotten fsb to 250 to say something

Your right, my bad! I messed with the fsb settings shortly after putting this system together. It was not stable at 2.6 GHz but like I said I did not mess with the memory timings or voltages. I did not see enough gain in performance to continue until I achieved stabilty. It would run for a day or two ok then out of the blue it would crash. It takes time to get them tweeked. I don't want to mess up a perfectly good running system for a few extra points.
