    HDD disappeared until reboot

    yesterday I was chatting and all a sudden my music stoped.., and then azureus starting whining and then I realised that my D partition no longer existed acording to the computer

    I rebooted and all was well

    the D partition is the only partition on my 80GB HDD connected on the primary IDE channel as master

    really scared the crap out of me.., what happend?

    No idea, I've never had one just up and disappear like that. If it were me I'd run the drive maker's diagnostic software ASAP, just in case the drive is trying to say something.

    Might see i you can check the hdd's temperature also.

    uh.., the last time I checked the temp was around 40C, I am at work right now, so I can't see what it is currently

    I will run the diagnostics this weekend, probably..
    I have broadband for one more day and I am making the most of it atm..

    I already backed up anything of importance from the drive

    Temps looks fine now. You have your backups for just incase.
    You may want to line up a replacement hdd to have handy as I have had them hdds quit at the darndest times. Had them lose the mbr lots of times from bad shutdowns.
