    Sata Wd Hdd

Problem: System recognise only 495 MB. Motherboard - Gigabyte 7VT600P -RZ , HD WD800 80GB SATA. During installation system shows only 495MP unpartitioned space. Who knows the reason???
    Thanks in advance

Nothing-just one partition 495MB, brand new HDD. Can't be faulty, because the old one SATA WD 80GB shows the same.

Are the SATA drivers correctly installed?
I understand that with a SATA drive the WINXP installer needs the SATA Drivers to be able to install to the SATA HDD.. that is by hitting F6 at the corrct time during the installer startup..
You most likely need to create a driver disk/cd from the driver utility on the motherboard CD

if he did not have the drivers... would setup see the drives at all? I'd reset bios settings or go to drives and make sure they are all set to auto... Just a thought....

When installing it says SCSI drivers hit F6, well windows sees SATA drivers as SCSI type and that is when you have to install them using a floppy.

If you have not installed them, well you need to start from scratch again.
