[RESOLVED] Capture Video to Stills
My apologies if this problem has been answered before. It's such a simple and, I think, common problem that I'm surprised I could not find an answer somewhere.
My company has a VHS tape that they produced in the late 1980s. I would like to capture stills from it for our website.
I have a Lite-On (freestanding) DVD recorder so transfering it to DVD video (VOB files) is no problem.
I've searched this site along with a few others but could not find a way to capture stills from the DVD.
Any suggestions? Thanks.
PS. I'm running XP HOME.

You'd need a video capture card. You'd plug the VCR into the vidcap input of the card, record it to the hard drive and then most software DVD players have frame by frame capture built in so you can choose whichever ones you want for the site.
There are lots of vidcap cards available in many price ranges. ATI allinwonder was one of the first and is still popular.

So just to be sure I do understand. You can play the DVD on your computer? If so many computer based DVD players have a screen capture function.
Other programs to capture screeshots..

some of which are free. And another way is to hit the Print Screen key which will allow you to paste the entire desktop image into MSpaint and crop it down to a size you want.

Sorry I didn't get back here. I have PowerDVD. It seems that it does have a frame capture function. Works fine. Thanks.
