DUN (none) is currently connected would you like to disconnect it?

I have a Dell Dimension 8400 XP Home. XP and my 98se are connected to the internet via a switch connected to my dsl modem. The conexant56k modem in the XP is not connected.

I installed AOL 9 on the XP a few days ago (for my daughter). If AOL is running and I switch to another User account when I log off I get the message: "The dial up networking connection 'The Internet 2' is currently active. Would you like to close this connection?" I say no because that will close my daughter's connection.

When I look in Network Connection, I see (1) Dial Up, AOL, Disconnected and (2) Local Area Connection, Connected, Broadcom NetExtreme57.xxGig.

Under the Dial Up if I right-click properties nothing opens and if I double click it, it opens a connection to AOL.

I called AOL and they made sure the Broadcom is shown for network, but the DUN still shows in Network Connection. She said AOL is looking for the DUN and can't find it.

Also, I know that AOL installs an AOL Adapter and I cant find it. I'm totally new to XP. The properties area of my lan is greyed out (but I noticed it became visible when I checked Client for MS - which I promptly unchecked.) I have AOL Connectivity Service listed in Zone Alarm as being in C\Program\Files\Common Files\AOL\ACS\acsd.exe. I tried to block it in ZA but couldn't access AOL.

The only thing I can think of is I pasted the "organize" folder to AOL to retain all files and settings - maybe those dial up setting were a part of it.

Is it normal to get that message from Windows? I noticed there's an option in the Lan which is checked, which says to notify me if my connection is getting low (or something like that). I don't think it would be a good idea to delete the AOL (disconnected) entry in my Network area.

P.S. It's not causing any problems, but the prompt about leaving the connection open/closed is annoying.

Disabling "Would you like to close this connection?" in Windows XP

The following entry will stop the prompt from shutting down the connection when changing users under Windows XP. This enables
a permanent internet connection with multiple users on your PC under Windows XP.

Go to: Start->Run->Regedit

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon

Right click in the right pane. Select New/String Value. Name the value KeepRasConnections and set it to 1.

Reboot.
