    Removing Dsclient from Windows 98

    Hi all

Here's what happened: in an attempt to put some 98 machines on the 2003 domain, dsclient was installed on a few machines. Anyhow, to cut it short, found out that it wasnt needed.

The machines that had dsclient installed will now now log onto the domain like the rest do. I tried uninstalling, no good.

When logging on it says the password is incorrect or the access server has denied logon.

Does anyone know what reg keys dsclient makes/chnages to I can try manually revert the dsclient install process?

    Thanks

    SpywareDr:

I have already got the Win98 Clients onto the domain, and they were the insturctions I followed excpet for one thing: I found that, if I installed DSCLIENT I would get the error I explained above. If I did eveything the same but didnt install DSCLIENT, everything works.

So now my problem is, I have 3 machines that have had DSCLIENT installed, I want to get rid of all traces of it. Something about dsclient is not agreeing with the authentication process. A simple Add/Remove obviously doesnt work, I am thinking it leaves some reg keys behind...

Does it show up when you right click the desktop network icon->properties so that you can uninstall it from there?
If you're happy and you know it......it's your meds.

    Hi Steve

No...I havent checked there specifically, but I have been in there a zillion times a I swear it isnt there. As far as I can remember it was in add/remove (although it cant have done a proper job).

Problem is, its a remote site and I have no way of getting to these clients for a week now. Hence I am gathering all the info I can so when I next go there I am 'armed'!
