IDE problem
Attempting to bring new life to an old Pent.II/233. It has a Mitsumi and a TEAC CDRom fitted and both were working before I fitted a Promise PCI Controller Card and a second Hard drive. Using Win98SE. 256ram.
BIOS no longer recognises the two CD Roms. They are on the primary IDE
connector. All cables and plugs checked.
What can I do. Will they work on the second Promise Controller socket?

Best to keep the cdrom an burners on the ide. Some of them are not pcked up by the controller cards.
My thought would be to reseat the ide ribbons and if that does not work, replace them. Soulds like you bumped them or moved them enough to disconnect a connection.
