cant run command and conquer
I'm having trouble running command and conquer generals on both of my home computers. I'll give the specs on computer 2 in a bit when I'm at it. In the meantime I'm at computer 1 right now, where it has 2.2 GHz and 256 RAM. The requirements are: 800 MHz Intel® Pentium® III and 128 MB RAM
as a minimum and 1.8 GHz with 256 RAM as recommended.
MINIMUM CONFIGURATION (SOLO & 2-PLAYER MULTIPLAYER)
• Windows® 98, Windows 98SE, Windows Me, Windows 2000, or Windows XP (Windows NT and Windows 95 not supported)
• 800 MHz Intel® Pentium® III or AMD® Athlon™ processor
• 128 MB RAM
• 8x CD-ROM/DVD-ROM drive
• 1.8 GB free hard disk space plus space for saved games (additional space required for Windows swap-file and DirectX™ 8.1 installation)
• 32 MB video card using the Nvidia® GeForce2™, ATI® Radeon™ 7500 AGP video card, or more recent chipset with DirectX 8.1 compatible driver
• DirectX 8.1 compatible 16-bit sound card
• Keyboard
• Mouse
RECOMMENDED (SOLO AND 2-8 MULTIPLAYER)
• 1.8 GHz or faster Intel Pentium IV or AMD Athlon processor
• 256 MB or more RAM
• 1.8 GB free hard disk space plus space for saved games
• Nvidia GeForce3™ or more recent Direct3D™ capable video card

I think you're going to find that 256mb of ram isn't much if you're playing detail oriented games, especially if you've got windows xp. And the graphics cards they say as recommended, you'd better have one that does a whole lot more than a GeForce3 can do.

if 128 ram is the minimum and 256 is recommended it should be perfectly adequate no?

Hi u do in!
I run CC zero hour and ran generals on both 2.4 GHz and a 800 MHz. computers. Both have 256 MB of RAM.
Did you go to run under start menu and type dxdiag?
Reduce your screen color quality to 16 bits. To do this right click the desktop and select the setings tab and you will see the option.
Go to options in the game and select the minimum amount of graphics usage.
I don't know if you can get the game running and it quits or it just won't start.
Sometimes what I do before playing any games is to end most of the process under my user name. To do this, (press control+alt then delete). select process and right click all the process under your user name and choose end proces. Do not end explorer! Do not end other process not listed under your user name! Such as system and local service!
Another thing to also consider is to uncheck write combining in the video card settings. This can cause the screen to corup.
What OS are you using? I'm using xp pro and home editions
