    Weird Start up after Windows update

    I recently did some windows updates and afterward any time I try to restart my computer it will hang, sometimes for over 10 min. During this time my CD rom drive light will blink twice and then my DVD drive will blink once. My harddrive light is lit all the time until the PC actually reboots. I am running a P4 2.4ghz Processor and windows XP Pro.
