DVD Burner Questions
Hello, 3 questions:
1. Is the maximum theoretical burn speed for +/- R DVDs 16x?
2. Does anybody know an extenal burner that can do both at 16X? Most that i've found can do +R at 16x, but -R at 8x.
3. Can lightscribe technology be used on non-lightscribe DVD discs (until I buy the appropriate media)?
Thanks in advance

DVD burners capable of writing to both DVD+R and DVD-R media at 16X (dual spec burners) are no longer objects of great fascination. In fact, 16X is the theoretical maximum DVD burn speed. This limit has allowed slower manufacturers the chance to catch up to the leaders.

"There are no consumables like ink or ink jet cartridges; the only consumable is the disc itself," Anderson says. " The discs have a thin, laser-sensitive layer on the label side of the disc."

1) At the moment. You'll find 16x media hard to come by though.
2) I'm not aware of any.
3) No.
Nick.
