question about installing 3rd hard drive
Hey,
I just got a computer with one hard drive and one cdrw drive installed. The computer has a 430 watt power supply and an ASUS P4P800 SE motherboard. Here's my setup:
Ide connector 1:
Master segate harddrive
Slave open
Ide connector 2:
Master cd-rw
slave open
I plan on installing a second hard drive on the ide connector 1 slave an a third hard drive on the ide connector 2 slave. Is this possible and will it be an overload on the power supply? Thx.

Reddyjs, welcome to the forum.
Should be fine. May be questionable if you have a power hungry graphics card (Radeon 9800 or higher) needing its own molex. You may also need a molex splitter.

I have 4 hard drives and 3 optical drives on a system with a 420 Watt PSU and it's nowhere near maxed out. You'll be fine so long as it's not a cheap and nasty power supply, which never put out as much as they claim to.
Nick.
