my destop turned into a "my computer" folder? help =(

when i turned on my comp today there, to the left is the same bar as when you open up " my computer". It has folder task, other places and deatils. I can't right click in this bar, and i can move anything on top of this bar. How can i get rid of this? The night before I got a used hard drive froma friend. There was a copy of ME and other programs on it. I formatted the hard drive, then in the morning I had that situation happen. Also when i click on my desktop any open window will minimize. In add remove programs i have somehting called Webfldrs XP. Could that be causing this?

I don't know what Webfldrs XP is. I heard it doesn't uninstall from the control panel and it might be a legitimate update from Microsoft. This I have to verify. But for now, you'll need to go into your registry and change the shell parameter to explorer.exe.

If you want to uninstall Webfldrs XP, go to Start>Run and typw "msiexec /x C:\Windows\System32\webfldrs.msi" without the quotes. You can always reinstall it again later if it doesn't help.

I have the same program in add/remove. I think it is an update for XP. There are 3 files with that name on my system, C:\Windows\$NtServicePack...
C:\Windows\ServicePackFiles... , and C:\Windows\Sys32.

6. On Windows 2000 and Windows XP, use the Web Folders Repair utility (webfldrs.msi): http://support.microsoft.com/kb/287402/EN-US/ should help out.
