Some place there is a 'setting' that has IE clear the cookies and trash put in the Internet Temp file, but I can remember where it is or find it. Any one know how I can do this?

There is no such thing as overkill. 'Open fire' and 'is it dead?' are the only sane options when threatened.

I take it you mean under the delete files, but the check mark doesn't stay, and the applt box doesn't come up. Any suggestions?

matofthemint--As General Winters said IE "Tools|Internet Options|General tab|" click on Delete Files will clear out most of your Temporary Internet Files.
But that will not delete Cookies in Temporary Internet Files.
To delete Cookies, in the same General tab clicking on Delete Cookies will delete all your cookies.
You can also clear out a few more folders by using Disk CleanUp. (Click MyComputer|Right click your system folder (probably C:\)|Properties|General tab|Disk CleanUp. After a little scanning you will be told what folders can be cleared. You check the ones you want Disk CleanUp to empty. Click OK.
Cookies can be cleaned out individually following these instructions

I take it you mean under the delete files, but the check mark doesn't stay, and the applt box doesn't come up.
No sure I understand. There is no check mark in the Internet Options|General tab--just buttons to click. And no application box will come up when you do click on the buttons. The deletion just occurs in the background.

Thanks, chaps, but I finally found what I was looking for - Tools, Internet Options, Advanced. It's under Security and is 'Empty Temporary Internet Files Folder when Browser is closed'.
