Adware.Gator
I need to get rid of Adware.Gator. My NAV finds it each week at the scan and I tell it to delete but I get an error that says "delete failed". I have used the removal tool and it will not locate it, I have gone into the hotkeys, the program files everywhere and cannot locate this spyware. It shows up each week in the scan, but cannot be located. It is strange that the removal tool will not find it. There are no programs for Gain either. The only scan that will find it is Nortons, but will not delete. I use Win 2000 NT, IE. I have also scanned in safemode and it never shows up. Any suggestions for getting rid of it? It is really starting to bug me. Thanks.

Hi Fink,
Thanks for the reply. I have used several spy programs to scan and none of them located this file. None find it except for NAV. I will check the link out and try again.

Have you turned off System Restore before trying to remove?

I did turn it off prior to trying to delete, or at least I think I did, if I went to the right place to turn it off. I went to Startup & Recovery and unchecked the write an event to the system, is that where it is?
I have copied the hijack log to the hijack forum. Thanks!

Just wait a little while. They live in a different time zone and are always busy with lots of hijack logs and will get to it.

Thanks Fink. Actually when I checked this morning there was indeed a post to help me clean it up.
