laptop comparison question

Hello all,... My daughter will soon be re-locating to another state for work and wants to buy a good, dependable laptop...something under $1000.00. She wants wireless...dvd-rw drive...built-in software for photo d/l'ing from her digital camera ( which she has yet to buy), ..uhh...any other bells & whistles that comes with a good laptop. I just have a desktop and have no knowledge about laptops. I know that ya'll will give us the usual excellent responses that VirtualDr. is famous for !! Thanks...Stevejr
