how do i block video ads with sound?
i turned off sound from internet options (advanced/multimedia) and even though i unchecked the two boxes "play sounds in web pages" and "play videos in web pages" i still hear sound (usually music) coming from my speakers.
is there another way to stop these sounds from video ads in web pages?

Hi... What sounds are you hearing? Turning of the sounds that you have in the advanced options would eliminate embedded sounds on a page like wav or midi type files but flash animated ads or displays will have their own built in sound that will play regardless. You'd have to stop the flash/shockwave/active content from loading in the first place (by not installing it) or use a browser like Avant that has a toggle switch to turn off flash animation easily and quickly.
I'm not sure if Firefox browser has a facility to do the same or not.

Disable activeX. IE can't load flash without it.
There is nothing to fear, but life itself.

For IE I use Flash and Pics Control from
http://www.unhsolutions.net/Flash-an...rol/index.html
Enables you to toggle Flash Animation Pictures Cookies ActiveX Java Script Java Applets
If I need to permanently block specific annoying ads whether flash or normal pics , I use Adshield.

There is no such thing as overkill. 'Open fire' and 'is it dead?' are the only sane options when threatened.
