compressed files.
I have XP pro. I would like to compress some files using the Microsoft Compress tool. Can someone help me finding it?

XP has compressed folders if that's what your refereing to as for compression 7-Zip is freeware if you want a third party application.

As long as you are using the NTFS filesystem, there isn't a tool as such. Simply go to My Computer, right-click on the hard drive partition where you wish to store the compressed files, and choose Properties. Then check "Compress drive to save space". Then all files saved to that partition will be automatically compressed/decompressed without you needing to do anything further.
Alternatively, you can right-click on files on an individual basis, choose Properties, click Advanced, and you get the same compression option.

Xp has compressed files yes. Without using a third party software, can I compress files using what utility XP has?
