OK, this is seriously cool software...

I just got sent this link today, but it's the coolest app I've seen in a long time. I'm typing this post without touching the keyboard, using an app called Dasher. Basically you just type by pointing and zooming in a never-ending field of letters. There's prediction so the most likely choices are larger and easier to point to and stuff. Very cool.

Nope, sorry, no matter how hard I try, I cant get the hang of it.

In fact, its starting to seriously annoy me.

Only about 8-10 minutes. But I was playing with it for a while at work today (practicing). The default scroll speed was annoying for me, but I cranked it up to 5 and it's good now. Still won't replace a keyboard, but I just love the way it works.

I agree on that one, its a very good idea/concept.

8 to 10 minutes to type 73 words, that's too long. It would take me less than a minute, but then I type 70 to 90 words a minute.

I used it to generate a 2-page report that was due today. Took me only 36 hours and 8 minutes.....

I think some of the cooler applications are where keyboards are impractical -- wearable computing, portable devices etc. I can see how it would make a workable text-entry system for this backpack for example.

That is a cool program. It took me a while to get used to it, but I am quite good at it now. Pretty useless though

A tad off subject here, but hasn't there been any advances in voice recognition sofware. I've seen some that work with word processing and some other office programs, but to be able to wear a headset mic and have it work for everything would be awsome. It has to be coming soon. Doesn't it?

Haven't looked at the app, but from the sound of it, might be useful for those who are unable to use a keyboard, ie: severe arthritis, etc.

Accessibilty is a big thing and anything that can help those who are otherwise 'handicapped' in some way to access the Internet or just use a pc, is a plus. Moreover, practise makes perfect....the more you use it and configure it for your personal preferences, the faster and easier it will be.
