    Sound card noise...?

Hi Ill get right to it. i D.L. a demo of far cry game and 30 sec. after I started playing it I get this really LOUD screech ending in a scraching sound Then sound goes away....none totally gone cant hear a sound. That was the first time I played the game and I tied up all my wires neatly behind comp are the only thing that changed since this started . I have sound blaster live card. i run the sound test thingy after I shut every thing down sounds ok if I run it right after it happins I get no sound out of test. I un pluged my 5.1 speakers and tried just headphones same thing ?

    Thanks Pie

It appears that the game itself is creating some sort of conflict within your system. Check to see if you have the proper version of DirectX needed to play the game and run the directx sound test too.. start>run type "dxdiag" [enter].

Does it happen under any other circumstances? Is the demo supposed to continue on longer or is that where it ends anyway? You could also try redownloading it in case it got corrupted.

Hi Fink, My wife enjoyed your cat link...shes a cat lover for sure! Heres some new info, I dunno what direct x in game is, my direct x is 9.0c it says in dxdiag. also every thing is ok sound and all...cds, other games but once I open far cry after4 sec. loud noise scratch sound... Ill close out of it and try to play a cd or another game and that noise comes back on any thing that has sound. Sound is ok till i open far cry ...dont know if this is related but last time the sound went away i kept playing it bout 15 mins. into it a small screen came up saying: CRITICAL EXCEPTION
    code
    0xc0000005
    address
    0x001b:0x21017c75
    memory could not be read
So I dunno let me know what ya think ....Thanks fink!

I'm going to move this to our brand spanking new gaming software forum. you'll be the first one there with a problem. (I don't know if that's something you think is good or bad LOL)
