Domain names & workgroups.
Probably the wrong forum.
I have some Win98 machines that cannot join our network (NT4 TCP/IP) when using a workgroup name - they will only join when using the domain name for the workgroup name.
Any ideas??

Hi NorthernBloke,
Not my area but I can look up information real good. I have a Win98 reference by Mark Minasi that states:
...Windows 98 users can log on to a domain but their machines cannot join a domain. - Expert Guide to Win98 - M.Minasi
He also states that to log onto an NT domain you should enter the domain name into the workgroup box in the identification tab. Also you should fill the name of the domain into the "client for MS Networks" properties.
This seems to indicate that you can use the resource shares in an NT domain from a W98 station but you cannot actually join a workgroup within the domain.
