    GMail POP3

I just set up a gmail account and cannot get it to send mail through my Outlook 2002. I can recieve mail just fine. I've tried setting it up manually and with gmail's setup wizard, neither way works.

I've got a router and am not using a software firewall.

Has anyone else had any problems setting up gmail through Outlook?

Hi Dvom. I also have Gmail and Outlook. The problem is that Outlook 2002 does not support Gmail. I have tried to set up a gmail account on many different things and then I found out that was why. (I could never get outlook to work for anything. Maybe u can help me )

It will work with 2002, you just have to Enter '465' in the 'Outgoing mail (SMTP):' field

I'd been meaning to setup my Gmail POP; your post motivated me to do just that.

I set mine up manually, following the screenshots in the gmail setup. It works fine. Make sure you've followed all the steps, particularly the port and authentication sections.

don't forget the next step either-

"15. Click the 'Servers' tab, and check the box next to 'My server requires authentication.' "

Thanks for the replies. I had the configuration correct but it still wasn't doing it. A google search for "gmail outlook 2002" got me what I needed.

I installed Service Pack 3 for Office 2002 and that fixed the problem.

Any hints on doing this for Outlook Express? Different ports, server setting, etc.? Or does the GMail Wizard do everything just fine on its own? Google is not too helpful here.
