You need to put the SATA controller driver onto the floppy. The when prompted, press F6, and you will be asked for the floppy when Setup is ready for it.
You should be able to copy the SATA driver from your motherboard driver CD.

You need to copy the contents of the folders, rather than the folders themselves. My guess would be that 965SATA would be the correct one. I think the file that Setup wants is Oem.txt, if memory serves, that needs to be in the floppy's root folder or you won't be able to install the driver.

There's a text file that also needs to be present and it's called "TXTSETUP.txt" or something like that.
In doing a little research, check out page 68 of your motherboard's manual. These instructions appear to be for setting up a RAID configuration, but I think it'll work for your situation as well.
-------------------------------------------------------------------
Insert the motherboard driver CD into the CD-ROM drive. The installation utility will appear automatically soon after you insert the driver CD. Quit the installation utility first. Insert a blank formatted floppy disk into the floppy disk drive.
Go to My Computer and right-click the CD-ROM icon (This procedure assumes Drive D) and select Open. Then you will see folders and files contained in the driver CD. Double-click the BootDrv folder icon and select MENU.exe
A MS-DOS prompt screen will appear. Information on all chipsets should be listed on the screen, please select the proper chipset model. Your system will then automatically zip and transfer this driver file to the floppy disk. After you complete the steps, boot from the Windows CD to install the RAID drivers. When install Windows 2000 or Windows XP from HDDs in serial ATA controller, press F6 as Win2000 or XP boots up, then supply serial ATA controller driver by this floppy disk. Follow on-screen instructions to complete installation.
-------------------------------------------------------------------
EDIT: If you don't have the manual, you can find it here.

Seeing that the chipset supports SATA, you may not need to deal with the whole F6 aspect. Try installing it w/o doing that and just continue the installation in the normal fashion.

That's what I thought before I got my system, but I still had to load the drivers via F6. I tried it both with and without the RAID configuration, and I needed to do it either way. My RAID controller is built into the motherboard.

Don't know if this helps, but if I recall correctly, my system provides an option for sata setup during boot sequence, which can be enabled or disabled in the bios.

I believe the drivers are required for SATA unless you have the Intel Southbridge. xpsp1 recognizes the intel chip.
