I would definitely go for your cousins AMD64 board over your AthlonXP board any day of the week. It'll kick your one into the dust

Hi Supersparks.....So Please Explain to me if you can...Why is the Athlon 64 2000 faster than an Athlon XP Barton 2000...
Is it because of the Mobo?!!
What I have seen the 64 is less than a 2.00/2.06Mhz..
This is the part that confuses me I'm afraid...
Going to Finally Order tomorrow, so if this Athlon 64 is faster then I'm going for that also...lol....Cheers M8..

It is not the speed in Ghz that makes the big difference, it is how the cpu is put together. The architecture of the cpu is what makes all the difference in the world as to how fast a cpu can do something.
For some reason, I like a cpu that can do in 15 seconds, when it took the old on 15 minutes to do the same thing.

So it looks like I should change my Mind now and go for the
ASUS K8NE-E Deluxe + AMD 64 3000 socket 754 then with One stick of 1Gbt Ram
I did say AMD 64 2000 earlier when it shoulda said 3000..Sorry for that.....
I wish i was Electronicly minded..
Thanks Train/SuperSparks

As Train said, it's all to do with the architecture, some designs can do more work per clock cycle than others. AMD64's have shown themselves to be very fast, even in 32-bit mode, and when 64-bit Windows and 64-bit apps become available they will give even better performance.
You might want to consider a socket 939 motherboard though, it will give a much better upgrade path if you want to put a faster CPU in later.
Nick.

Hello, At this point in time I would go with the 64bit build. Go with a 939pin as SuperSparks has suggested. I have built three systems recently all 754pin 3000's. One system is still here as I just finished it. I am a little surprised to find that they do not run all that much faster(one wasn't as fast do to cost cutting) than my Barton core 3200+. A few weeks ago I built a gamming system for a youngster with a 939 pin 3500, 1gig Corsair XMS 3200, Epox mainboard, XFX 6800 GT video card, two 74gig WD Raptor HD's and a 550 watt Antec psu. Its the sum of all the components that make for a fast system not just a cpu. This system rocked!!!
Happiness is a journey, not a destination. So work like you don't need money, Ride like you've never crashed, and dance like no one's watching!!!!!

Only thing I'm a bit Angry about is the Idiot in shop gave me Revision 1.0 board instead of rev 2.0.
Updated the Bios n found it is a ruddy Beta version 1007.005
So trying it out...System is Going Very, Very Good at moment.
Though AsusProb does clash with Everest for some reason!!
I could not afford a 939pin System..A bit outa my Range money wise...Just done repair to car..
This System should do me for next 5 years..HopeFully...
Will be doing tests on this for next few days...Will let ya know how it Performs......THANKS ALL...

scarecrowdr hey man, congrates on the new system. I have a similar system to yours, yours though I believe would probably out perform mine. I would definetly suggest upgrading to 1GB of RAM. I did it to mine and I couldn't believe the difference!! Anyways, enjoy the new rig!! Let use know how she holds up!
