Bought a power supply - missing a connector

I bought an Aspire 500W PS. Now that I am ready to take the old one out, I noticed that the new PS doesn't have the 6-pin AUX mobo connector. I don't know what it is used for or do I really need it?

I was thinking about returning this and to get a another one that does have that connector but I wanted to find out first if I really need it?

    My mobo is P4ITA.

    Please help.

    Thanks in advance

I believe you're referring to the connector for the Pentium 4 power (previous versions of the Intel chip, and AMD chips don't need this connector).

But, if your existing PS had this connector plugged into the MB, then you definately need it!

I have an Antec case w/ 300W p/s. I clipped off all connectors I wasn't using near the p/s and taped the hot leads w/ electrical tape to eliminate some clutter. BE CERTAIN THAT YOU WONT NEED THESE CONNECTORS or have a plan B for putting them back if you should decide to do this!

It's OK to disagree with the reason for the war, but sabotaging the effort is treason.

Wasn't that connector originaly developed for use as a Wake-on-Lan setup?

I've noticed a lot of the new ps's aren't putting them in anymore. My new Thermaltake ps doesn't have it, which is good, for me. It always just got in the way anyway.
