How can i tell what a file pertains to (MSISYS.VXD)
When i come across a file that i dont know what it is or does, how or where can i look it up to find its fumction?
This file showed as updated in SFC but i dont know what updated it. .vxd is a new one to me. Thanks as always......

It belongs to msinfo32 (the system information tool) and gets updated everytime you run it. DocWatson and hwinfo /ui also have their associated files which sfc detects as updated when they are run.
One of the easiest ways to get info on a file is just to run it through google, like so:

Thanks guys.
Epsilon...I traced this file to/ as a virtual device driver...used with windows 95.
My system came with '98. Do i still need it?
Rog...correct. hwinfo.vxd also showed updated. Also thanks for the link...
