Brightest galactic flash ever detected hits Earth
Explosion briefly altered planet's upper atmosphere
Had this happened within 10 light-years of us, it would have severely damaged our atmosphere and possibly have triggered a mass extinction
Kind of puts things in perspective.

I see in that article that it was detected on December 27.
So maybe the precursor to the detection was another event that happened on December 26th ???
Maybe just pure coincidence.
I also saw a link to NASA nixes claims of Mars life
