    Win98se Problem?

    Hi All
I've just done a clean install of windows 98se on my old laptop (Trogon Q13 - Pentium 233mmx - 48 megs Ram). It runs great -seems to be quicker than win95. Here is the problem, if I have a pcmcia card in the computer when I start it up it thinks it has found new hardware and then procedes to install it again. This never happened when I was running win95. I realize that I can leave the card out until the computer boots up but I want to know if stop this "problem" from happening.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks
    Larry

I have had similar problems occur after manually installing my modem,so I uninstalled it and let the windows plug-n-play feature detect the new hardware and allowed it to install the required software, then the problem was gone.Use the device manager to uninstall.

While your in Device Manager make sure the card is not listed more than once.

I tried this and still have the same problem,
the computer will install the device again. This happens with my modem card and also my Iomega Clik drive card.If I wait until the computer is up and running and then insert the card it will work correctly (ie: it won't detect it as new hardware and reinstall it).

go into bios and set it to autodetect. Go into device manager and remove them. Shut down, wait a minute then boot up and let Windows attempt to find the hardware and install the drivers for it.

Watch out for the unknown deviced has caused an unknown error in module<unknown>
