    Transfering data from HDD to HDD

    My current HDD is 30GB (Toshiba). Want to buy large 60GB but don't know how to transfer data from 30GB to 60GB.

    The easiest way is to use a disk cloning/imaging app such as Norton Ghost or Acronis True Image. Those programs are a very worthwile investment in any case, as you can use the image to restore a seriously hosed computer in just a fe minutes.

    I think that's what he's talking about. Laptops are extremely hard to perform this operation on, Norton Ghost or Acronis True Image make this operation much simpler. Listen to him, he knows what he's talking about. James

    You can either copy the image to another partition or burn to CDR if it has one installed using the applications already mentioned.

    I don't know about your toshiba, but I have a IBM Thinkpad which I purchased a IDE Harddisk tray. It fits in the removable drive tray on the laptop. This lets me make clones (Backups) of my harddrive. You could also look at getting a external 2.5" enclosure. If you have USB on your laptop, you could get one of these enclosures ($20 at NewEgg) and then clone you exiting harddrive to it. When finished, remove the drive from the enclosure and replace the one in the laptop with it. You will still need to buy drive Image or Ghost to accomplish this.

    This sounds like the cheapest way to accomplish this. laptops are expensive to do anything to. James
