What "little" program...do I wish existed???
I just LOVE the thread : What "little" program could you simply not do without?...(I only wish someone would print it in book form)
This got me to thinking of the many programs that I wished existed; but, since I'm computer illiterate, I got to thinking that maybe what I wish I had, really DOES exist...except that I'm just not aware of it.
So, if i could start the ball rolling, here's just a few of my wises on my wish list, BTW any help on finding if there are such programs out there would be greatly appreciated.
1) I wish there was some program that would ONLY allow ME to close any open windows...I hate it when I'm involved in something & have to open several windows at one time & I then accidentally open another window the wrong way & Windows closes a previously opened window, that I didn't want closed...the program I'd like would keep all windows that I open, open, unless I specifically do something to close them.
2) I wish that there's be a way that I could copy items that for whatever reason I can't copy now....for example, I might get an error message box & want to copy it so that perhaps I can ask webopedia for help on it...but for some reason, I can't click on it in order to copy it...
3) Also, many times using the "select" instead of "print" has helped me to print only specific things; but, many times it'll also include a picture or advertisement that I don't want included ...I need a program that some how will allow me to be VERY specific on want I want to print.
Well, I hope these are enough to start this thread.
Does anyone else have a wish list????
Thanks

I was going to say one that allows me to create and print money so along the same theme.
I wonder ho many people think that MS Money will let them do that ??
I think that the name of that software is more of a statement ie MS = Money !!

I do a bit of programming. If anyone has an idea that inspires me I'll have a go at writing an app. Maybe if some of the other programmers do to, we can make some of these wishes come true.

Superball Sparky think Superball
I also thought of another little proggie that would be interesting one that would create bar codes so I could do my own price tags when I go shopping.
Seriously though how about a program for Windows CE that have a PDA filter out all calls and refuse all calls from that are either on a do not disturb me list or only allow ones that are in the PDA's address book and if the call is deemed as passable then the phone should ring. You would think that inthis day and age Bell would offer this service, in fact they do but the total of phone numbers it will block is laughable, it would be humorous if it weren't so darned expensive and no more that 10 phone number can be blocked at one time and they do not offer the same sort of service in reverse.

How about this:
A remote control for your TV, Stereo etc that allows you to punch in a number instead of using an up or down volume button.
ie lets say you normally have your TV set at volume 40 and you turn it down to say 15 at night when the kids have gone to bed.
In the morning if you could just punch in 40 and be done with it rather than having to hold the Volume up button down for like 10 seconds.
Maybe this exsists somewhere and I just haven't seen it.
In this day and age you'd think it should.

Hi amarok-sookgah,
Re your #2 wish: You could try CopyMsgBoxText. I downloaded it quite a while ago, never installed it so I can't vouch for it
http://www.our-class.net/mmchristen/...essagebox.html
"...allows you to easily copy texts or screenshots of message boxes and dialogs into the clipboard.
Useful for documentation/bug reports etc: Instead of copying a messagebox's (or any dialog's) text by hand, simply strike a key (configurable to your choice) - and the text is copied to the clipboard. The "Paste" command of your editor inserts the message to your document.."

Many times a program already exists if you know where to look for it.
Regardless of how many programs are out there someone is always going to come up with another one that is needed.
I am interested in where this thread could lead as we don't have to wait if we think up something.
Nice type of thread to start amarok-sookgah.

Print screen key does nicely for those error boxes, just hit the print screen key and the alt key, then paste in an image editing program such as Irfanview Then save as a jpg.

I wish there was a program that would check every program you install and see if it is added as a Startup program, and give you the option as to whether or not you want it to start up when Windows starts.
That way you wouldn't have to either go into the program's options, or go into MSConfig, it would just prompt you when you install the program.
This would also help to eliminate a lot of Spyware.

The new version of Spybot S&D will notify you that the registry is about to be modified this way and gives you the option to block or allow. If you have slightly more than a passing familiarity with the registry it should be everything you just asked for and more.

During a scan or juts in general ?
If the latter won't that mean that SBSD will need to be running in the background all the time ?

You can use "Alt>PrintScreen" then paste into photo program or Word or use Irfanview, "Options>Capture" and it gives you some options for screenshots. Sometimes we have software on our machines and aren't aware of all it can do. I know I'm guilty of this - LOL ;-)
Please post back so others can benefit also........
