    Very Large MP3

A friend gave me an MP3 that is 1 hour and 95 minutes long. I would like to create a music CD with this file that I can listen to on a standard CD player (non mp3). It is too long to fit on a CD. Is there any way to compress it or do I have to cut some of it out? If I have to cut some music out what is the best way to do this? I have Roxio and Nero and can't figure out either. I can add and delete mp3's but don't know how to cut down a single mp3.

    Here's a good little mp3 editor..

    http://www.mpesch3.de1.cc/#mp3dc

the maximum length of time you can get on a standard 700Meg CD is 80 minutes so you'll need to edit the mp3 down to that time or split it into sections and span it over 2 CDs (that's what I would do)

Once you've split it into 2 smaller mp3 files then you can use Nero to convert/burn the mp3 files onto a standard audio CD.

A tutorial on how to do that..

    From Nero..

    1 hour and 95 minutes? 2 hours and 35 minutes? 155 minutes?

In case the "1 hour and" was a misprint, and the .mp3 is actually 95 minutes, it may be possible to burn to a 99 minute disc if your recorder and playback device support it.

Sorry for the typo NoBob. Yes the file is 95 minutes long. I didn't know there were 99 minute cd's available and I'm not sure if my cd players can recognize that so I am going to do a little trim job with fink's mp3 editor. I'll post when I get the finished product.

a GREAT idea just popped into my noggin'

what is the size in kbs that it was recorded in?
if it is like 320 k or 256 k, simply convert it to say 160 k or 192 k and it will easily fit onto 1 single cd then without splitting it!

here is more info than you will ever need!

Well, it may not have been that great

Notice that the original request was to convert this .mp3 file -- that runs 95 minutes -- to a standard audio CD, not to burn the .mp3 itself to disc. In that case, a 95-minute track will still be something like 950MB once converted to CDDA, no matter the bitrate of the original .mp3 file.

95 minutes of .mp3 will easily fit on any full-size CD (and many bitrates would squeeze onto a mini-CDR too).
