Im sorry but it is Outlook Express 6.
I thought I would be able to see my mails in my laptop and would be able to answer an email from there too.
Sorry for being a real novice.
Thank you.

I beleive it comes with XP. It may be free on MS website. Never really thought about it, because it is just always there on my XP machines.
point is, it has nothing to do with your network really. every machine on the network can have OE loaded on it and be setup to retrieve data from your ISP. You usually just need to know the pop3 server name.
of course, once you read it on one PC, it will not show up on the other. it downloads to that pc. I suppose you could have them share a mailbox file somehow, but I have never tried it.
I would think you could just share out the mailbox directory to the network.

Thank you for your reply Daneph2. I just want to see all those stored emails and their folders from each computer so that I can reply or deal with them from either PC.
I shall try to find each mail box directory as you have suggested. I might be able to set iy up.
Thank you again.

You can't point Outlook Express at a non-local drive for the message store.
You can point Outlook at a non-local PST, but it isn't supported, will likely cause problems, and allows for only one instance of Outlook accessing it at a time (OL requires exclusive access to the PST file). See How to move address book and files across the network.

If you just want to read the same incoming E-mail messages on both computers, it's easy to do, with or without a network. An alterative way is to define the same E-mail account on both computers. Then configure each account to leave messages on the mail server. If you don't, the first computer to read the message will see it and the other computer won't.

ecross, thank you for your very informative reply and the links. I now understand why it can not be done.
Then configure each account to leave messages on the mail server. If you don't, the first computer to read the message will see it and the other computer won't.
I think I shall try your above suggestion.
